We are now in Brasil
In Sao Paulo: We arrived here last Friday after what felt like a very very long journey (my first flight with a baby!). We have found a temporary apartment in Itaim Bibi and will be moving there tomorrow. I hope to feel more settled there albeit only for a few months. It will be an improvement from where we are: in a hotel close to E's office located in Brooklin. The suite is comfortable enough but the food from the hotel kitchen and the restaurant is terrible and we are surrounded by office blocks.
Sad goodbye in Switzerland: The past weeks have been heart wrenchingly difficult (which partly explains why I've not been writing here). We had LE with us for a large portion of time and I spent quite a lot of it with him at home as he had his school holidays (it's the big annual celebration of Fasnacht in Basel). Saying goodbye to him on Thursday before we flew off was extremely sad. In fact, even writing about it now makes me want to cry. Sigh.
Keeping busy: We decided on our serviced apartment on the same day we arrived, after a few hours of quick viewing, Koala strapped to me in a baby Bjorn and receiving a lot of attention (they seem to love babies and children here). Saturday saw us regretfully going to the baby shop to buy a new stroller (we only realised we had left our stroller behind while at the airport)(looking at the parts we struggled to squeeze in our bag still makes me go argh). We walked around Parque Ibirapuera on Sunday morning, and then enjoyed a delicious pasta lunch in the terrace of a trendy looking Italian cafe in a smart neighbourhood with one of E's colleagues and his family. It feels good to be able to spend a Sunday in such a way. We left a still snowy Basel with temperatures of -2c.
