I'm in my 39th week of pregnancy. Egad. Yesterday I went out to get my much loved gelled nails removed. My manicurist tells me she is not expecting to see me for the next 6 months based on her sister's experience (having and caring for a baby). Not entirely surprising I guess given that child care support here, unlike in Asia, is so expensive and scarce. If she is right I won't see her again for more than 2 years... until we come back from Sao Paolo.
All packed: This is my first time packing for a trip to the hospital. I've only been hospitalised once and that in an emergency with appendicitis in HK (which I first blamed on a poisonous chocolate cake and what the BF at the time and I thought was an exaggerated reaction from me). I've assembled the things I believe I might need based on advice received from friends, maternity websites, hospital etc in my carry on luggage. I wonder whether I should also include a change of clothes for E, as suggested by many, but E is confident he won't need it given that our city apartment is close to the hospital. I'm tempted to sneak a set in anyway so that I can spring an "...aha! I told you so" if the situation warrants it.
Saving baby's cord tissues/blood: "Finding and signing on a private bank" was sitting on my to-do list for a few weeks; I was procrastinating, overwhelmed by the various German speaking websites and falling asleep (funny how short the days become when naps last c.3 hours). I finally got my act together and sorted this matter out. Better to be safe than sorry: another insurance we hope not to need in the future.
Still outstanding: Buying a present for Little E from his new brother (a camera for children I saw at a shop a few weeks ago is no longer there! yikes!), taking a picture of myself with extended tummy (with my hair combed and face powdered...yes, standards have slipped lately) and finishing my Portuguese homework (not related to baby but still has to be done).
